As climate impacts escalate, more people will be forced to flee in search of safety and to meet their most basic needs. Climate change may not be the only reason why someone may choose or be forced to leave their home, but intensifying natural disasters, rising sea levels, and changing availability of livelihoods are significant contributing factors. All of us would do the same, but governments and the border industry are falsely framing migration as a security threat rather than the human rights challenge it is.
